Pogba gives cryptic response on United future

Initially all looked rosy at Old Trafford, as United's encouraging start saw it go ahead through captain Pogba, but thereafter Leicester was the controlling force in the first period.

Paul Pogba's comical penalty run-up has sent social media into meltdown, after the World Cup victor pulled rank over Alexis Sanchez in Manchester United's 2-1 win against Leicester at Old Trafford.

We have big and multi-functional coaching staffs, and I think we are more the head coach than the manager.

Pogba eventually dispatched the spot kick in the opening minutes of United's Premier League clash with Leicester but teammate Alexis Sanchez clearly felt like he should have been given the opportunity.

His message sparked a flurry of tweets from United fans looking for hidden meanings, with some seeking reassurance that the player was settled at Old Trafford and not likely to jump ship to Barcelona.

Andreas Pereira. The talented young Belgian spent last season on loan at Valencia and got the surprise start in this one.

Other fans were not so sympathetic.

But it is not just the manager's relationship with United's players that has come under inspection, considering he was irked by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward failing to strengthen the squad before the transfer deadline. "I had my plans for many months and I find myself with the market closed in a situation I did not think I would be in".

Pogba responded with a strong all-round performance, as well as scoring the opening goal after what I have to say was a very unusual run-up for his penalty.

The midfielder successfully converted a third-minute penalty to give his side the lead and gave everything until the 84th minute - by which point Luke Shaw's first career goal had doubled the advantage. "I am someone who likes challenges and wants to progress and you have to leave it behind now", Pogba told Sky Sports.

Leicester looked startled by United's early intensity but slowly began to feel its way into the match, with debutant James Maddison shining.
