New England Patriots expected to adjust contract for Tom Brady

New England Patriots expected to adjust contract for Tom Brady

It was reported early Friday that the initial diagnosis was a sprained MCL, but a subsequent MRI revealed the full extent of the injury.

Guice was injured in Washington's preseason opener at New England on Thursday night and could be seen on the sideline with ice on his knee.

Guice was expected to be the Redskins' starter after they selected him 59th overall in the draft.

The injury is devastating news to the Redskins, who drafted Guice to fix their 28th-ranked run offense from 2017. He had suffered a hyperextended knee (yes, the same knee) at LSU but opted against surgery, also per Rapoport.

Now, the Skins will move forward with Samaje Perine and Rob Kelley, as well as pass-catching threat Chris Thompson, who is still recovering from a fractured fibula he suffered on November 19.

Washington Redskins quarterback Alex Smith (11) hands the ball off to Redskins running back Derrius Guice (29) during drills on day three of Redskins training camp at Washington Redskins Bon Secours Training Center.

Tom Brady's contract will get a major boost in value if the five-time Super Bowl champion posts another strong season in 2018, according to a report Thursday.

In addition to Guice, the team says tight end Manasseh Garner, a long shot to make the roster, is out for the season with an ACL injury.
