Imran Khan's party nominates him as Pakistan's next prime minister

Imran Khan, who is set to become Pakistan's new prime minister, was questioned on Tuesday by the country's anti-graft body in connection with the misuse of helicopters of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government which allegedly caused Rs 2.17 million loss to the exchequer.

"Imran Khan has always been against security protocols and VIP culture", Khan's spokesperson Naeemul Haq said."But it's the government that gave him the PM's protocol". "We've been trying to make peace since 70 years but it's Pak's side which is creating hurdles", added Singh.

Imran Khan thanked the members for showing their trust in him. "This happens very rarely that in a two-party system a third one gets a chance".

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is also meeting today to nominate Shehbaz Sharif as joint opposition candidate for the post of Prime Minister.

Khan had been summoned by the accountability body on July 18, but had sought more time to appear due to his "busy schedule".

If we can not bring change then we will suffer the same fate as MMA and ANP, he warned, referring to the poor electoral show of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Awami National Party. He vowed, "I will take decisions based on merit and for the betterment of the people".
