Whittaker will be joined by three new companions, who are all very different, said Mandip Gill (Hollyoaks), who plays one of the pals. "You don't know what you're looking for until you see it". Circumspect like the new Doctor, the new companions were pretty tight lipped.

As for Whittaker, asked about how she's playing the part, she responded quickly. We briefly see the Doctor and her friends traveling through some alien terrains, along with the Doctor wielding what appears to be a flamethrower.

Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker as the latest iteration of the titular Time Lord.

Since then we've learned she wears a long blue coat, wide leg pants with suspenders, boots and a t-shirt with a horizontal rainbow across it.

In tribute to the Time Lord gown, the outfit also featured a hood that she pulled up with aplomb whilst chatting with fans. The 40-second clip carries a voiceover from the new Doctor: "All of this is new to me".

The cast and creative team were tight-lipped on specifics about the new Time Lord, but executive producer Matt Strevens did share that "this Doctor is in love with life" and "treats everything with respect and wonder". Also joining the series in a returning role is Sharon D Clarke.

"The thing about this role, which is why it is so awesome for any actor to play the role, is that essentially gender is irrelevant, and that's completely liberating", Whittaker said.

"The fact we get on is a bit of a miracle because we're so bloody different", she says.

This season will have 10 standalone episodes, each 50 minutes long. Sit them down for Jodie's first episode so you can go, 'See?!' There is no barrier to entry this year! "This is the most wonderful thing that can happen to you, and there's only a few of us who know how it feels", she says he told her. There are new faces (the Doctor and her friends, of course), new worlds (including a Mars-like one with burning vehicles and one that eerily resembles a '50s-era suburban neighborhood), and of course, a new sonic screwdriver.
