Bulls, Jabari Parker progressing on deal

If he signs, the Bulls would add him to a young core that includes Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr., Kris Dunn, and Zach LaVine, who just agreed to a four-year, $80 million deal with Chicago this offseason.

If Parker signs an offer sheet with the Bulls, his status as a restricted free agent will give the Bucks the chance to match the deal and retain his services.

The agreement was consummated on Saturday, moments after Bucks GM Jon Horst removed the qualifying offer on the restricted free-agent forward and allowed him to become unrestricted.

"Jabari and I express our honest gratitude to Jon Horst and Bucks owners Marc Lasry, Wes Edens and Jamie Dinan for working side-by-side with us throughout the free agency period", said Mark Bartelstein, CEO, Priority Sports & Entertainment. The Bucks can match any contract Parker signs.

Parker has averaged 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. He's a four-year veteran but has played more than 51 games in a single season just once because of injuries. CBS 58 News was able to talk to Parker and ask him why he chose to come out and shoot some hoops with the community.

Parker, even though he only played in 31 games last season, averaged just over 12 points per game and almost five rebounds on close to 50 percent shooting.

"From the moment the Bucks drafted Jabari with the No. 2 pick in the 2014 Draft, they have gone out of their way to treat Jabari as a member of the Bucks family, and this is another flawless example of doing exactly that, and we're very appreciative". The plan could work out, if Parker stays healthy and would certainly be a welcome change in the Bulls' fortunes, which have been up, down, hit-and-miss (but mostly miss) since another prospect's career was all but ended by an ACL injury. The Bulls announced they had released guard Julyan Stone and forward Paul Zipser.
