World’s ugliest dog dies weeks after winning title

Zsa Zsa the English bulldog, whose droopy tongue, protruding teeth and penchant for Slim Jims earned her fleeting moments of fame last month as the victor of the World's Ugliest Dog contest, died on Tuesday.

Brainard told NBC's "Today" show website that the 9-year-old dog had been staying with her father.

"I picked Zsa Zsa up and took her outside and laid her down in the grass", the pet owner shared. English bulldog named Zha-Zha, victor of the ugliest dog in the world died at the age of nine years.

Zha-Zha was found in a nursery in Missouri at the age of five.

Zsa Zsa was about nine years old when she passed away, which is about the life expectancy for the breed. Put up for auction after her breeding years were done, she was bought by an animal rescue group before making her way to Brainard's home.

She said: "I picked Zsa Zsa up and took her outside and laid her down in the grass".

The English bulldog was reportedly named after Hungarian-American actress Zsa Zsa Gabor.

As we noted about the annual contest, its organizers say that it's meant to show how lovable and unique all dogs are, regardless of what some people might view as imperfections.
