Nets trade Lin, take on Faried in salary dump

The move helps clear up the Nets' logjam at point guard and sends Lin to another team that is also pretty crowded at the position. According to Wojnarowski, the team also worked a deal with the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night, receiving forwards Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur, a 2019 protected first-round pick and a 2020 second-round pick in exchange for guard Isaiah Whitehead.

According to Wojnarowski, Atlanta is also sending Brooklyn a 2020 second-round pick via Portland.

The trade with the Nuggets was a salary dump for Denver.

Lin, 29, played just one game last season after rupturing the patellar tendon in his right knee in the season opener against the Indiana Pacers on October 18. Both are entering the final years of their contract. The undrafted Harvard product averaged 14.5 points, 5.1 assists and 1.2 steals per contest in 2016-17, his first season with the Nets.
