Liverpool face Lazio competition for Stoke attacker Xherdan Shaqiri

Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri will reportedly undergo a medical with Liverpool after the Merseyside giants met the Switzerland international's release clause.

In June, he was reported as saying he wanted to leave Stoke and sign for a Premier League club.

The Swiss worldwide has been a player on Liverpool's radar since 2014 and had his heart set on a move to Anfield when the club's interest first emerged this summer.

Shaqiri will become the club's third signing of the summer and will see Liverpool's spending for this window exceed £100 million after Fabinho and Naby Keïta officially joined on the 1st of July. "He joins a dressing room of really good lads and I know they will welcome him with open arms and help him settle and integrate quickly".

Percy has claimed Xherden Shaqiri is now due for a Liverpool medical on Friday and provided there are no issues he will be unveiled as the Merseysiders' new recruitment shortly.

"I can't see him getting into the team", said Robson.

'When someone like him becomes available in this way you have to react if you are smart - and we have, ' Klopp commented.

"We are the flawless move for him in this moment as well I think, because he needs to push himself and challenge himself and our environment encourages that".
