All-Star Game Rosters Announced

As the current collective bargaining agreement between Major League Baseball and MLBPA states, the victor of the game will not earn home field advantage in the World Series as it did in the past.

The American League's starting outfield for next week's All-Star Game certainly isn't lacking in star power with the Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout, New York's Aaron Judge and Boston's Mookie Betts getting the nod.

Boston can send six players to D.C. if Andrew Benintendi can win the Final Vote competition.

On Sunday, the rosters for the game were announced. This will mark the second career All-Star assignment for Reynolds (2004), Marquez (2006) and Fletcher (2005), and the first for Muchlinski and Blaser. While it's important to note that injuries and other factors will most definitely allow current snubs to earn entry into the star-studded exhibition, here's what the current rosters are.

Second baseman Jose Altuve, who is making his sixth All-Star appearance and fifth consecutive, was selected as a starter.

Mark Foltynewicz was named as a reserve for the National League after posting a 2.37 ERA in 17 starts averaging 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings for the Atlanta Braves this season. MLB DC-based official scorer Dennis Hetrick will have scoring duties for the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado will start in the infield, as well as San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford.

Five Houston Astros have been named to the American League All-Star roster.

The surprising inclusion in the American League was undoubtedly reliever Joe Jimenez of the Detroit Tigers.

This selection process was made up of 8 position players decided by the fans, 16 player decided by the player's ballots - 5 pitchers, 3 relievers and 1 substitute for each position; and 7 players decided by the MLB Commissioner's office - 3 position and 4 pitchers.
