Chelsea winger Kenedy set to return on loan

Chelsea winger Kenedy will undergo a medical with Newcastle United on Tuesday ahead of a season-long loan move to St James' Park, according to Sky sources. The deal, however, is thought to be another loan deal after Chelsea were believed to have quoted £30 million to make the deal permanent.

PSG, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig were all rumoured to have been impressed with Kenedy's performances for Newcastle last season, but it seems the Magpies have got their man.

Kenedy joined Chelsea almost three years ago from Brazilian side Fluminense, but has played just 27 times for the club.

He played 13 times for Newcastle last season, scoring twice.

The uncertainty around Chelsea's managerial situation has meant it has been unclear who would be loaned out by the Blues this summer.

Kenedy's move reportedly looks set to be confirmed before a departure of Conte is, with it thought that Maurizio Sarri will take over at Stamford Bridge.

However, it isn't clear at this stage whether or not they will be handed the option of purchasing him outright at the end of the 2018/19 campaign. Newcastle United will be keeping a close eye on that too, as they are keener than anyone else to bring Kenedy back to their club for a full season, and would like to wrap up a deal as soon as possible.
