INDIANA JONES 5 And The Brand-New 2021 Release Date

The wait for Indiana Jones 5 just got a whole lot longer.

Indiana Jones 5 was originally going to be released on July, 10, 2019, but the script is now being rewritten by Jonathan Kasdan.

This is nearly exactly one year later than its prior release date of July 10, 2020.

Disney dropped a number of release-date changes this morning, chiefly - as we already knew two weeks ago - that Indiana Jones 5 will miss its original July 10, 2020 release date.

This is the second time the film has been pushed back: It was originally set to hit theaters in July 2019 before being rescheduled for 2020. The consistent theme here is that they still believe this is a movie that needs to come out in the heart of the summer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has locked in the new crusade to see release on July 9, 2021. Steven Speilberg is still set to direct.

At least we can count on the movie throwing out some self-referential, dryly-witty, geriatric humor for the audience - especially if Jonathan Kasdan brings his Solo sensibilities over to Harrison Ford's other iconic property. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a disappointment for many, though, Ford did turn in a believable performance, despite the fact that he was well into his 60s during filming.

Indiana Jones won't be swinging back into movie theaters until at least 2021.

Spielberg also has a slate of other projects he is now working on, including a remake of musical "West Side Story" and religion drama "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara".
