Houston Instagram model bit by nurse shark in the Bahamas

She claims she did not plan to post the photos to Instagram in the first place-and her account has, at the time of writing, gone private.

She added: "Everyone said they could hear the bite. They were just screaming at me not to do it", she said. The group passed an area in the ocean where several nurse sharks were swarming, and since it was promoted that swimming with these creatures was a safe and normal activity in the area, Katarina made a decision to hop in and get some photos (Note: a warning sign by the pool of sharks clearly stated that the animals "can and do bite" on occasion).

"I've been on so many different medications", she told WSVN-Ch. They didn't consider the nurse sharks a threat until one of them bit her and pulled her underwater.

Katarina had to get stitches and antibiotics for her injuries, and still has some fragments of teeth left in the wound.

Since her story was featured in USA media, Katarina has been inundated with thousands of new followers and comments online, including a barrage of negativity from online trolls. She's been accused of being a dumb blonde who is obsessed with social media.

"I would recommend people to do it, but be smart about it".

Zarutskie maintains she "love [s] sharks".

"But it's the internet right?"

Zarutskie said she immediately headed for the stairs to get out of the water, holding her bloody arm above her head to keep it out of the water.

This might just be me, but having your photo taken fuckin' sucks.

A Perth woman was also attacked by nurse sharks last month with vision of the attack caught on camera.
