Cardi B Is Counter-Suing Her Former Manager for $15 Million

The legal battle between Cardi B and her former manager is heating up. The plaintiff claimed that Cardi B "has not only declared the agreements to be 'void and unenforceable, ' but she has also repeatedly defamed Shaft, falsely communicating to her fiancé Kiara Kendrell Cephus p/k/a Offset, members of her entourage, and the public that 'Shaft is robbing me'".

Cardi B is hitting back at her ex-manager, who sued her for $10 million for breach of contract, with a counter lawsuit for over $15 million!

Cardi's suit claims that when the artist "questioned whether it was proper for her to receive only 50 percent", Shaft "deceitfully told her that this was an absolutely standard percentage for a recording artist to receive".

According to the suit, Shaft got a 20% commission, but tried to bag even more dough off her Sony music publishing deal.

The complaint, which can be read in full here, states: "Ms. Almanzar entrusted Shaft and his related entities with many aspects of her professional and business affairs and that trust was abused".

Shaft's lawsuit was filed in April, days after Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy album became a huge hit, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. "While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint", according to court documents. Owing to his vision and drive, Cardi B can now bring her talents to the world and obtain a level of success few artists ever achieve. 22.

Cardi B is represented by long-standing attorney for The Beatles, Paul LiCalsi. Leonard is listed as a co-writer on Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow".

The counter-suit claims that Leonard put "barriers between [Cardi] and people close to her in an effort to maintain complete control over her" and dictated "who she should and should not see romantically".
