'IHOB' Changes Back to 'IHOP,' Offers Pancakes to Customers

Long known as the "International House of Pancakes", the chain teased the name change days before formally announcing it would be called "IHOb". And as it turns out they're not even changing their name after all.

IHOb is back to being IHOP.

It's to celebrate the restaurant chain's 60th birthday.

IHOP announced on Facebook that its name change was a hoax to promote new burgers, according to KATU-2.

On Twitter, the company said, "That's right, IHOP!".

The tweet from "IHOP" also poked fun of itself for changing to "IHOB", saying "That's right, IHOP!"

There were strong feelings going around about the name change. While pancakes are once again at the forefront, the new line of burgers will remain on the menu. The internet was outraged at the move, either because of IHOP betraying its initial goal as a pancake emporium or that it was just some kind of elaborate marketing scheme.

"It remains to be seen whether the buzz will translate to people being more likely to consider dining at IHOP", according to Business Insider.
