George Clooney injured in auto accident, reports

George Clooney has been taken to hospital after his scooter collided with a vehicle, leaving the Hollywood A-lister injured.

The auto driver called an ambulance which took Clooney to hospital, AGI added.

George Clooney is "fine" but recovering after he was hit by a vehicle in Sardinia on Tuesday. The two reportedly left together in a private auto after he was given the clear.

According toLa Nuova, an ambulance arrived and carted the injured Clooney to Sardinia's John Paul II Hospital. Local media representatives who had gathered at the hospital said Clooney left in a van through a side exit. The US actor, 57, was said to be riding his motorbike at Costa Corallina, Puntaldia, when he collided with a Mercedes auto on Tuesday morning, according to TGR Rai Sardegna. The actor suffered minor injuries, according to the BBC. Clooney described himself as being "banged up", CNN said.

Italian media reports Clooney has already been released from the hospital. The American is on location in Sardinia to film a new mini-series Catch 22.

The newspaper tweeted a photo apparently from the scene, showing a lightly smashed up motorbike and auto, with a caption suggesting the vehicle had been turning and Clooney had made contact with its windscreen.
