Storm Strengthening To Hurricane Off Carolinas As Puerto Rico Faces Storm Beryl


"Tropical Storm Chris is generating VERY ROUGH surf". People on islands across the region stocked up on food and water and prepared for possible damaging winds, rains and waves. It said the system could still drop up to 2 to 3 inches (5 to eight 8) of rain, with as much as 5 inches (13 centimeters) in isolated spots. It was expected to remain nearly stationary over the next few days before growing to hurricane force and moving to the northeast.
