Paulinho leaves Barcelona after one season to rejoin Guangzhou Evergrande

Brazil midfielder Paulinho has completed a move back to Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande just 11 months after joining Barcelona for €40 million.

The player spent nearly three years with the Chinese Super League club in his first spell, playing nearly 100 games with the giants and lifting back-to-back CSL titles.

The 29-year-old, who signed from the Chinese Super League side last August, scored nine goals in 21 LaLiga starts during a successful season at Camp Nou in which Barcelona won a LaLiga and Copa del Rey double.

Speaking after playing in Brazil's 2-1 World Cup quarter-final defeat to Belgium, Paulinho acknowledged he has offers on the table as he plots his next move.

However, he has now returned to the Chinese Super League initially on a season-long loan deal after being offered a lucrative chance to return to the club.

"After training in Evergrande and Barcelona, and following the Brazilian national team in the World Cup, I got a good experience" he said.

And on Sunday evening, Guangzhou confirmed they had reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Paulinho on an initial one-year loan.

'I chose to return to the Super League this time, hoping to bring more championships to Guangzhou and Guangzhou fans'.
