Lyon coach Genesio leaves door open to Fekir Liverpool move

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed Liverpool are Nabil Fekir's "dream club".

The France worldwide was on the verge of joining Liverpool in a £60m deal last month, only for a move to break down at the eleventh hour as the Reds wanted to renegotiate his fee.

Lyon boss Bruno Génésio has admitted he's not sure whether or not he will have Nabil Fekir at his disposal next season.

Fekir's France are now preparing for a World Cup semi-final showdown with Belgium on Tuesday (July 10).

Joining the Reds would certainly mean going to a club of higher stature and greater pedigree, as Klopp's side look to improve on last seasons' fourth-place finish in the Premier League as well as the run to the Champions League final.

Fekir is now in action at the World Cup for France and Les Bleus take on Belgium in the semi-final on Tuesday.

"I would have liked him to play more for France".

"I have an nearly father-son relationship with my players".

"I did that too with Tolisso and Umtiti, he is our captain and it is the coach's wish to keep him". We work a lot on it, we reinforce it. If all the players come back healthy from the World Cup, then we already have a really good team and that is all I need to know.

The Merseyside club have held talks with the 22-year-old, although the Mirror claim Tottenham remain favourites for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp is now eyeing a move for his fellow countryman, Brandt, who was named in Germany's squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation ahead of Manchester Ciy's Leroy Sane.
