Warner Bros. Fires Back at Bethesda's Westworld "Rip-Off" Accusations

Warner Bros. Fires Back at Bethesda's Westworld

Adding that the Westworld game does not share part of the source code with Bethesda's Fallout Shelter.

Warner Bros. has now officially responded to the allegations, and they are claiming total innocence.

Have you played either game? Those who downloaded the game were quick to notice that it had some similarities to Fallout Shelter, a mobile-only game released by Bethesda some time ago. The most apparent piece of evidence has been illustrated by a bug in the Westworld game that was evident in earlier versions of Fallout Shelter.

Shortly following its release, Bethesda filed a lawsuit against WB Games and Behaviour Interactive over their mobile Westworld game, based on the hit HBO series of the same name.

As a result, Bethesda is suing both Warner Bros. and Behaviour Interactive. They claimed that Westworld was a "blatant rip-off", and are calling for compensation due to punitive damages. "According to the suit, "Warner Bros. has a direct financial interest in Behaviour's infringing activities through the resulting reduced costs and expedited development of the Westworld mobile game".

Bethesda is taking a bit of a gamble with Fallout 76, the brand-new, online-only, multiplayer-focused survival game set within the smash-hit and fan-favorite Fallout video game franchise.

The statement goes on to say that Behaviour Interactive also disagrees with Bethesda's accusations: "Warner Bros. has been assured by the game developer, Behaviour Interactive, that Bethesda's allegations are untrue and that none of Bethesda's code was used in the Westworld game".
