Trump says he will announce his Supreme Court pick on July 9


Trump's comments come as a crucial moderate Republican senator said any nominee to the Court who said they would vote to overturn Roe would not be "acceptable".

The president originally said he was considering a list of 25 candidates.

Justice Kennedy, who served in the US Supreme Court for 30 years, has held the key swing vote on high-profile matters such as abortion, same-sex marriage and capital punishment.

In an interview airing on NBC's "Meet the Press", Graham said that the 1973 decision has been reaffirmed "in many different ways" in subsequent rulings, and that the precedent should be respected. The president has already said he intends to install a conservative justice in his place.
