Vivo NEX announced with pop-up camera and in-display fingerprint sensor

The NEX S with 128 GB storage is priced at 4498 yuan ($702 / Rs. 47,375 approx.), 256GB version will cost 4998 yuan ($780 / Rs. 52,640 approx.) and NEX A will cost 3898 yuan (US$ 608 / Rs. 41,055 approx.).

Hate the notch? You'll love the new Vivo Nex.

For now, the Vivo NEX is limited to the Chinese market, where the phone will go on sale for the equivalent of $610.

The Vivo Nes S and Nex A pack different chipsets. Further, the Vivo NEX also features 7.1-channel 3D audio, thanks to dtsX partnership. If rumors are to be believed, there are three variants of the smartphone - NEX A, NEX S, and NEX. On the other hand, the Vivo NEX flagship edition comes with top-notch hardware.

As for the rest of the specs, the Vivo NEX has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, an Adreno 630 graphics processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 4,000mAh battery and a (slightly disappointing) dual 12/5-megapixel camera on the back. That all-screen design wouldn't have been completely possible if Vivo didn't have the guts to stick the 8 megapixel front camera in a retracting mechanism. Some of the Nex S's most noteworthy features - like its in-display fingerprint sensor - will surely make their way to more widely-available phones in due time.

The Vivo NEX Ultimate is equipped with CS43199 + SSM6322 audio chip whereas the Vivo NEX has AK4376A DAC Hi-Fi audio chip.

The entry-level Nex A is priced at US$610.

NEX's Ultra FullView™ Display experience comes in the form of a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED display with a 91.24% screen-to-body ratio. The secret is the hidden front-facing camera.

The rear camera system contains two lenses, one 12MP with f/1.8 and another one with 5MP f/2.4.

Additionally, the Vivo NEX uses an in-display fingerprint scanner, which is not the first the company has dabbed on with the futuristic technology: it's little-known X20UD and X21 devices already boasted in-display fingerprint scanners. An LED flash is available on the back as well, while OPPO opted to include an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture lens for the front-facing shooter. AI is also a part of the package, with features like AI Scene Recognition, AI HDR, AI Filters and AI Photo Composition. There's a dedicated button on the side of the camera that triggers Jovi on the long-press action. The NEX and NEX Ultimate phones can be availed in colors like Diamond Black and Ruby Red. Vivo says that the transition is "instant", and that probably means that it takes the "Elevating Camera" less than a second to get into position for shooting.
