"Huawei Mate 20 To Feature 6.9" Samsung AMOLED Screen

It's then speculated the eventual device will be part of the Mate family, which has traditionally debuted near the end of the year.

It is pretty clear that smartphones with a large footprint are here to stay.

The Bell doesn't say what Huawei device will get the 6.9-inch screen, but the Huawei Mate 20 Pro might be a candidate. However, if a report out of South Korea is to be believed, Samsung Display is preparing 6.9-inch OLED panels for Huawei which the Chinese manufacturer will use its next flagship smartphone. They were first to introduce a three lens camera in their recent P20 smartphone and a Korean rumor on May 31 claimed that both Samsung and Apple were likely to follow suit. Also, it is expected to be 0.8 inches larger than the screen of the Huawei P20 Pro.

To put that size in perspective, Apple's iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen.

Although the Mate 20 Pro is not explicitly referenced, considering the wide diagonal of the display and the traditional lineup of Huawei flagships, everything points to the next generation Mate.

Of course, there's bound to be some high-end improvements to make this rumored Mate 20 Pro easier to use. If the previous generation model is anything to go by, the Mate 20 Pro will arrive with a huge display. The Huawei Mate 20 will sport a 6.9-inch display, while the iPhone 2018 aka iPhone X Plus will come with a 6.4-inch display, suggests report.

There's multimedia at the heart of everything: photos and videos are the meat and potatoes of smartphones for most users and Huawei wants to maximize the enjoyment of this content. Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 is expected to sport a 6.3-inch display.
