Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Is Free for PS Plus Users

Update: As kindly pointed out by reader Roe in the comments section, Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be available free for a full month, until 11th July.

Activision revealed at E3 that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 won't be getting just one special edition but in fact will have three different special editions for fans to choose from.

Everyone with a PlayStation Plus subscription can now download the previous game in the series for free on PS4.

In addition to the giveaway, Sony also announced that anyone who preorders Black Ops 4 from the PlayStation Store will receive the "Back in Black" map pack for Black Ops 3 immediately. It's all Black Ops Pass or nothing. The Back in Black maps will include Jungle, Summit, Slums, and Firing Range. This pre-order offer is open to all PS4 owners via PS Store, so don't miss out.

Previously the Black Ops 4 FAQ did say that content which is part of the Black Ops pass can not be purchased separately.

Q: I've already pre-ordered the physical base version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. While it still remains true that the player is unable to buy the Black Op pass at launch if you're purchasing the standard edition, it will become available as a standalone "at a later date".

One big difference this year is that the Call of Duty server test will be open beyond consoles, with Battle.net also providing support for PC.
