Trump military vows at summit confuse Seoul and contradict Pentagon

Rodman arrived in Singapore around midnight Monday, hours before President Donald Trump was set to meet Kim for an historic summit.

Trump's announcement that the USA would stop military exercises, his description of those drills as "provocative" and his suggestion that he wants to pull USA troops out at some point are "all things that Trump is putting on the table as concessions, all in exchange for some vague promises by the North Koreans", said Paul Haenle, a former China director at the White House National Security Council in the Barack Obama and George W. Bush administrations.

"Plus, I think it's very provocative", he noted, adding that "at some point" he wanted to withdraw USA troops from the South.

Analysts generally agree that a series of stringent economic and financial sanctions against North Korea, led by the USA with China's support, have played a big role in Kim's sudden embrace of diplomacy in the past six months after his repeated nuclear provocations. Since then, he has been an advocate for improved US relations with North Korea, despite pressure at home concerning the effectiveness and ethical propriety of his so-called "basketball diplomacy".

"I thought it was just another one of those things that I was just doing, some charity event", he said.

Apart from praising Donald Trump, the retired National Basketball Association legend took a jab at former president Barack Obama, who did not give him "the time of the day".

Dennis began weeping when he confessed that he received death threats for meeting with Kim in North Korea. And that didn't deter me. Never discussed, no interest, last place on Earth I want to go to. I was protecting everything. "I'm going to thank my kids".

"But I kept my head up high, brother". I couldn't even go home, for 30 days. "I like the culture and he gave me the opportunity to get to know him". I am here to see it. But I took those bullets, all that, everything that came at me, and I'm still standing. "And today is a great day for everybody".

"There is no single change in the suspension of the South-U.S. joint military exercise compared to the past", Nam said. "If you can do certain things, I will listen, my ears will be open, '" he added. It's always hard to handle that situation but, like I said, love is love'.

"I talked to Kim Jong-un and the administration over there five years ago and he asked me five years ago", Rodman told Cuomo. "I don't think they are so confident right now". The former reality-TV star seemed to turn a blind eye to the perceived human rights violations committed in the isolated authoritarian state, including "an nearly complete denial of the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion" and the use of prison labor camps, deliberate starvation, executions, and other methods of torture to deter dissent, according to a 2014 United Nations report.
