Trump fires back at Robert De Niro's vulgar comments about him

In a new tweet today, Donald Trump called Robert De Niro "a very Low IQ individual" immediately before using the wrong version of "too".

His tweet comes in response to De Niro's speech at the Tony Awards on Sunday, in which the Oscar victor simply said "fuck Trump" to a room of cheering people.

He said: "First, I wanna say, '**** Trump, '".

"I'm going to say one thing: 'F-k Trump, '" De Niro, one of Trump's most high-profile Hollywood critics, told the audience while presenting an award.

There remains a bit of confusion as to why Trump would think De Niro would be "punch drunk" from boxing movies.

One Trump supporter went so far as to argue that calling De Niro "low IQ" proved that Trump was not a racist, as he had directed the same insult against a black Democratic congresswoman.

Trump has now responded to the Raging Bull actor, labelling him "punch-drunk".

Mr Trump was on his way to Singapore to meet with Mr Kim as the Broadway awards show was taking place.

De Niro apologized Monday - but on America's behalf to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whom Trump ripped Saturday as "very dishonest and weak" after the US refused to sign the joint communique from global leaders attending the Group of Seven summit in Quebec. He delivered his response on his Twitter account while on his way back to the United States. "I watched him last night and truly believe he may be 'punch-drunk'". In January, De Niro referred to him as the "baby-in-chief" at the National Board of Review Awards.
