Steve Trevor is somehow back in first look at Wonder Woman 1984

While the rest of the DCEU is in something of a state of flux with talks of Ben Affleck exiting his Batman role, the success of 2017's Wonder Woman made a sequel all-but guaranteed.

Pictures has officially announced the start of production on Wonder Woman 1984, the upcoming sequel to last year's Wonder Woman which took in $822 million at the worldwide box office.

Joining her behind the scenes are several members of Jenkins' Wonder Woman team, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (Amélie), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (Topsy-Turvy).

This is all doubly surprising given that the Wonder Woman sequel's set in the mid-1980s. The character sacrificed his life during the climax of the first "Wonder Woman", which means the script will have a lot of explaining to do in regards to how Trevor is alive in 1984.

One of the images is quite a doozy. Isn't that JR Ewing from Dallas we can see there on the left?

But the most revelatory thing about these images is that they confirm Chris Pine's return as Steve Trevor.

Gal Gadot returns as the titular Amazon alongside Chris Pine (as Steve Trevor).

Yeah, that's Trevor looking like Huey Lewis and Wonder Woman faced with a bevy of screens (hint, hint, 1984) - all showing advertisements (which could tie in to Cheetah's wealthy character).
