Robert De Niro’s behavior is deplorable: Sean Spicer

The Tony Awards, the highest honor for Broadway, witnessed additional drama Sunday night when Hollywood legend Robert De Niro dropped an expletive about U.S. President Donald Trump, triggering wide controversy. Trump tweeted, adding that Trudeau was "Very dishonest & weak".

His economic adviser then went on CNN to say that Trudeau had "stabbed Trump in the back" with his comments on tariffs.

The Oscar-winning De Niro, 74, was at the annual event to announce an award for rock legend Bruce Springsteen.

"It's no longer down with Trump". Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said her nation "does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks". The CBS television audience heard dead silence instead before he raised his arms - twice - and earned a sustained standing ovation.

When asked about De Niro's remarks, Seawright said he probably would have chosen different words but seemed to praise De Niro for voicing people's "frustration". "Boy, do we need that now". DeNiro essentially destroyed Trump at the Tony award; Trump will call him a 2-bit hack actor w/ bad grammar, married to a rented younger actress. "Good for him. I mean, it's Robert De Niro".

Playwright Tony Kushner also shared De Niro's dismay of Trump saying it was a "the Hitler mistake" that put a "borderline psychotic narcissist in the White House".
