PM shares his fitness video; nominates IPS officers for Fitness Challenge

Accepting cricket star Virat Kohli's fitness challenge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released a video of himself undertaking Yoga and other exercises. "I also practicebreathing exercises", he wrote.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted his #FitnessChallenge video on Twitter on Wednesday. As Modi rightly described in his tweet, it was "extremely refreshing and rejuvenating" to see the head of the country doing some breathing exercises amid greenery and chirping birds in an exquisitely shot video. He also sought Modi's help to develop Karnataka.

The tweet by Modi addressed to Kumaraswamy was quickly read by many as an indirect challenge the PM posed to the CM to successfully run the coalition government in Karnataka which is still struggling to distribute all the cabinet berths among the disgruntled leaders. Modi today passed on the fitness challenge to Kumaraswamy, table tennis player Manika Batra and IPS officers, especially those above 40 years of age. "Challenge accepted, Virat! I will be sharing my own #FitnessChallenge video soon", the PM had written in May in reply to Kohli's challenge.

The Twitter trend itself was initiated by Indian sports minister and Olympic silver medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on May 21. The video shows him meditating, walking on a track inspired by five elements of nature, and doing yoga exercises.

The Prime Minister advised the citizens to "Practice any set of exercises you are comfortable with and you will see the positive difference it will make in your life!"

The video, at the time of writing, has so far reached almost 50 thousand views.

Following a fractured verdict in the Karnataka Assembly Elections, Kumaraswamy was sworn in as Chief Minister of Karnataka on May 23, after his JD (S) allying with the Congress.
