George and Charlotte goof off at William's polo match

Though it was Prince William's time to shine while competing in the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy Sunday, it was Princess Charlotte who stole the show.

Princess Charlotte had a great fall but Kate Middleton saved the day.

Images of four-year-old Prince George playing with a toy gun on Sunday caused outrage on social media.

Kate also got in on the fun, as she had a go on Prince George's rainbow slinky and was also in fits of giggles as Charlotte attempted (and adorably failed) at her gymnastics.

The third-in-line to the throne was photographed playing with the gun with a friend in the grass.

Princess Charlotte was seen enjoying the show.

Charlotte, 3, wearing a pink sundress and adorable sunnies, was spotted running around barefoot on the field with her brother and practising her tumbles.

Kate, dressed in a light blue Zara dress and Russell & Bromley wedges, kept a watchful eye on the children, consoling a tearful George at one point.

However, images of young George wielding a toy gun (and a toy knife) spoiled the mood online.

The controversy comes after a busy week for the royal family, after the Queen celebrated her official birthday at the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday, where the newlywed Duke and Duchess of Sussex also made their first appearance on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony.

After putting it on hold following the arrival of Prince Louis on April 23, she is now set to resume the traditional period of leave. Aside from his minor slump, he was seen frolicking around with his little sister and bonding with his seven-year-old cousin, Savannah Phillips, Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly's daughter.

People took to Twitter to express their disappointment, saying that it's "insensitive" considering some countries have serious problems with gun violence.
