Trump surprises with pledge to end military exercises in South Korea

-South Korea alliance is the USA troops stationed in South Korea and the joint U.S.

Despite Kim's pledges for denuclearization and the optimism for further talks, the easing of restrictive measures on Pyongyang will not be coming in the near future, according to Trump.

"We must have hope that this agreement will finally bring peace to the peninsula and help bring closure to thousands of families of missing American servicemen from the Korean War", Keith Harman, national commander of the VFW, said in a statement. "The most important, hard part of this security issue is for the United States and North Korea to sit down to find a way to resolution via equal talks", Wang said.

Moon Seong Mook, a former South Korean military official, said Trump's comments on the drills confirmed what many in South Korea had feared all along - that North Korea would attempt to drive a wedge between Washington and Seoul and gain substantial concessions from an unconventional US president who thinks much less of the traditional alliance than his predecessors.

"South Korea will have mixed feelings toward Trump's remarks", said Lee Il-woo, a director at Korea Defense Network in Seoul.

The effort will be the continuation of past missions that abruptly ended over a decade ago amid North Korea's increasing hostility and development of nuclear weapons. He taunted Mr. Kim as "little rocket man", and warned that the USA would "totally destroy" North Korea.

The surprise admission came after Hannity asked the President about criticism stemming from the bombast he directed at the North Korean leader during an interview which will air Tuesday evening.

In a statement signed by both leaders, the countries agreed to the recovery of the remains and the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

However, Trump and Kim may need one more meeting to discuss existing problems, according to the United States president.

He noted, however, that exercises could easily be restarted if needed. "At the same time, there needs to be a peace mechanism for the peninsula, to resolve North Korea's reasonable security concerns".
