Robert De Niro Says ‘F- Trump’ at Tony Awards, Gets Standing Ovation

The 2007 film, The Band's Visit, was critically acclaimed when it was released in Israel, receiving 8 Ophir Awards, including best film, best director, best lead actor for Gabbai and best lead actress for the late Ronit Elkabetz. At the recent Tony Awards, Robert DeNiro yelled "f*** Trump" during a foul-mouthed rant and got a standing ovation for it! "I'm just going to say one thing", De Niro said, "Fuck Trump!"

Check those out below, along with the other musical performances from the 72nd annual Tony Awards.

Best Revival of a Play: "Angels in America". The Tony Awards crowd proved a perfectly suitable liberal environment for a fresh statement, featuring for example, the outspoken anti-Trump survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida.

All in all, the evening was pleasant, if not particularly dynamic. But there were still plenty of musicals represented on-stage, and thanks to the musical talents of co-hosts Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles, there was still plenty of singing on stage Sunday night.

Glenda Jackson and Andrew Garfield took home acting prizes and rocker Bruce Springsteen received a special Tony, while a revival of the AIDS drama "Angels in America" was named best play revival and "Once On This Island" won best musical revival. The network was quick to bleep out two expletives the actor used after he took to the stage to introduce his friend, Bruce Springsteen. But in a year without a breakout musical hit, it's tricks like these that are maybe the best reason for non-die-hards to stay tuned in - well, that and Springsteen, who was set to perform.

But ultimately, the awards distribution was (almost) as uneven as American capitalism, and The Band's Visit made out like a robber baron.
