Deontay Wilder vs. Anthony Joshua Fight for Heavyweight Championship Announced

Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua have agreed terms for a heavyweight unification bout which will take place at a British venue later this year, ESPN reported on Monday.

"Deontay has accepted his terms to fight in the UK", Finkel said.

A rematch is also included as part of initial fight deal, ending months of speculation as to whether the unbeaten heavyweights would lock horns.

Wilder and Joshua will put their undefeated heavyweight records on the line. Then they came back with a much, much, much smaller offer for Deontay, which would have been even less than Deontay would have made in the United States, and wanted him to still travel to the U.K. for the fight.

Wilder, in a message posted on his Twitter account, confirmed he had agreed to fight in Britain but said an offer to Joshua of $US50 million to fight in the United States was still on the table.

Whether the fight, easily one of the biggest in boxing, gets signed remains to be seen, but the Wilder camp said they've agreed to the terms in the latest offer made by Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing.

"I don't think they are too keen to do the fight in the U.K.", Hearn told Sky Sports last week.

Wilder, who offered Joshua $50m to take the fight in the US, says that offer is still on the table.

The fight is pencilled in for February 2019. Not as good as we feel it should be, but we want the fight and we're willing to take what they offered.

According to Pugmire, Wilder's and Joshua's respective teams were quibbling over the location of the fight, with Wilder's camp wanting it in the USA and Joshua's side preferring the UK.

The $50m offer for him to fight me next in the U.S. is still available.

"It will take place in the United Kingdom either September or October according to Eddie Hearn. It's up to them to choose". Not only does he hold a majority of the prominent belts, his victory in a war over onetime long reigning division king Wladimir Kltischko established the fighter as the man to beat throughout the fight world.
