Trump Will Leave Summit With North Korea Early

Shanmugam is Singapore's Minister for Law and Home Affairs and he has the responsibility to make sure that the summit, the first between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean top leader, goes without a hitch from the security point of view.

Asked directly if Singapore paid for their stay at the very upscale St. Regis abode, Dr. Balakrishnan answered "of course".

'Cheating Every Time' North Korea has previously promised to denuclearize, only to continue its nuclear program after receiving concessions from the U.S., said Michael J. Green, senior vice president for Asia and Japan Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

"I think the minimum would be a relationship. We'd start at least a dialogue", Trump told reporters as he departed the G-7 summit in Quebec, Canada.

The media reports on the Trump-Kim talks on Monday follow months of only the scantest of coverage, though Kim's summits with South Korea's president, Moon Jae-in, and China's president, Xi Jinping, received large-scale coverage soon after they had ended.

Larry Kudlow, Trump's economic adviser, said Sunday on CNN that Trudeau's criticism had damaged Trump's prestige before the summit - and that's why Trump reacted so strongly. "It is a historic negotiation, and there is no way this president is not going to stand strong", Kudlowsaid.

The schedule also includes time for Trump to deliver a press conference before his scheduled departure at 8 p.m. local time Tuesday (8 a.m. ET Tuesday).

Iran said North Korea should be wary of negotiating with Mr Trump following his withdrawal from the landmark 2015 nuclear agreement.

What comes next remains unclear.

Just hours before what could be the most important meeting of his life, a seemingly relaxed and confident Kim Jong Un took a night on the town in Singapore, taking selfies and being greeted by cheering onlookers.

Despite the initial high stakes of a summit meant to rid North Korea of its nuclear weapons, the talks have been portrayed by Trump in recent days more as a get-to-know-each-other meeting.

The president's rhetoric has not mirrored that of his new secretary of state.

"North Korea has previously confirmed to us its willingness to denuclearise and we are eager to see if those words prove honest", he said. "Give me a break, OK?"

Rodman said he hopes everyone reads it before the summit and reiterated that "we've got the greatest negotiator of all time" to "show the world how it's done".
