Essex Liberals React To Wynne Announcement

Global spoke with University of Guelph political science professor Tamara Small, who characterized Wynne's move as a selfless attempt to rescue the Ontario Liberal Party from oblivion: "She's saying, 'I'm not going to destroy this organization with my own personal hubris'".

Asked for details on how he would combat climate change if elected to head Ontario's next government in the June 7 election, Ford said on Saturday that he would set aside $500 million to deliver clean water and air and "come down hard" on companies that pollute.

"I mean, it must have been a very hard for her to talk about [how] there will be a new government on June 7".

Ms. Horwath sent a letter to Ontario's Integrity Commissioner on Friday morning, asking the office to probe the findings of The Globe's investigation. I was at Queen's Park at the time and actually thought she sounded reasonable, a real moderate.

Hoggarth welcomes Wynne's decision to put the spotlight on her candidates, and says she wants to make sure the next government doesn't undo the things she has accomplished over the last four years.

Wynne began her day today in Richmond Hill, Ont., where she is trying to help Liberal Reza Moridi get re-elected, and was also campaigning in Scarborough North, Toronto-St.

Wynne, who first entered politics as a school trustee in 2000, said at the beginning of the campaign that she believed her party could turn the tide.

Thats why, Wynne says its still important to vote for Liberal candidates, to make sure neither Doug Ford, or Andrea Horwath can form a majority government.

But she says that change can not be a majority government for Conservative Doug Ford or the NDP's Andrea Horwath.

The Liberals under Wynne won a majority in 2014.

She says she will keep campaigning up until Thursday and won't say if she will stay on a Liberal leader after the election. This is a man who has defended candidates who speak ill of others - who smear people due to their religion or gender or sexual orientation.

"What's really remarkable this time is that within about two days of this campaign starting, that decision had more or less been made - that it was quite clear that it was going to be the NDP against the Conservatives". Therefore, she says people should vote Liberal to ensure the other parties can not win anything except a minority.

Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford says his alternative climate change policy for Ontario as part of a sharply reduced environmental budget includes a focus on clean water and air and a heavy hand on polluters but not a price on emissions.

"Our steel and aluminum industries have just been slapped with steep tariffs by the U.S. Workers in these industries are under attack". The NDP leader has been pushing for Liberal voters to join them to stop a Ford win.
