Woman Mauled To Death By Group Of Seven Sausage Dogs

Three of the dogs were females and four were males, Dinwiddie explained, while none of them weighed more than 40 pounds and none stood taller than knee-height.

Chris Bryant, sheriff of Carter County, Oklahoma, about 90 miles south of Oklahoma City, said Tracy Garcia, 52, was mauled Thursday night by her neighbor's small dogs near her home. When first responders arrived on the scene, at least one of the dachshunds turned on them, too, even charging toward the rescuers.

One of the animals charged deputies responding to the incident and was shot and killed.

After the attack, the owner requested the other six dogs be put down, too. He also revealed that initial reports stating that a pit bull took part in the attack were inaccurate. The euthanasia expert, Amanda Dinwiddie, confirmed six of the canines were "a mix of dachshund and terrier, while the other was believed to be a border collie mix".

The animals were infested with fleas and ticks, but didn't have any other visible health issues.

They were aged between one and three years old. They wont be testing the dogs for rabies.

'Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victims. "This is just a bad deal all the way around".

"We were cleaning ticks off ourselves all day", she told the station. "You can tell they have been living out in the woods". The district attorney will determine whether any charges will be filed against the owner of the dogs.

Garcia's funeral was performed May 15. She later died at the hospital.
