Samsung stops Android Oreo update for Galaxy S7, S7 Edge; report

Samsung is speeding up the schedule for its flagship smartphones, with the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S10 launch dates to be earlier than usual. According to the report, this means that Samsung is on track to roll out the Galaxy Note 9 one month earlier, as early as August.

To do that, the Galaxy S10 will be the first Samsung smartphone to be kitted out with Fingerprint on Display (FOD) tech, according to the report, which notes that the firm has attempted to introduce the feature since the Galaxy S8 but failed due to "technical difficulties". It will be powered by Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0.

While the new Galaxy phones this year may have very few updates to look forward to, Samsung has something new in store for us in 2019.

"The internal atmosphere is not much different compared to a year ago for early launches", a Samsung official said. The S10 may be announced as soon as January 2019 at CES.

Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy S10 ahead of schedule.

The first reason is supposedly tied to the Galaxy S9 and its reported low sales.
