Riz Ahmed to co-write the screenplay for Ms Marvel

Actress Tessa Thompson, who played the Valkyrie in the film "Thor: Ragnarok", said the head of Marvel studios Kevin Feige is not just interested in the female ensemble, but "really embracing" this idea.

Actor Riz Ahmed has offered to write the screenplay for Miss Marvel, the comic featuring Muslim teenage superhero Kamala Khan.

In case you're unfamiliar, the other two stars named are Mindy Kaling, creator and star of The Mindy Project and co-star of A Wrinkle In Time, and Kumail Nanjiani, Oscar-nominated co-writer of The Big Sick and co-star of HBO's Silicon Valley.

Ms. Marvel, or Kamala Khan, is pretty new to the MCU. She made her first appearance in Captain Marvel in August 2013, before starring in the solo series Ms. Marvel in February 2014.

Co-creator of Kamala Khan and editor of the Ms. Marvel comics Sana Amanat even weighed in with an enigmatic be-monocled emoji.

Kaling had replied that she is "obsessed" with the character, while Nanjani is yet to reply back.

So Riz Ahmed has thrown his name into the ring to write Marvel Studio's Ms. Marvel movie. "We have plans for that once we've introduced Captain Marvel to the world".

Like Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Ahmed is both Muslim and Pakistani, as is Nanjiani. Along with new Spider-Man Miles Morales, Kamala Khan is one of the most celebrated new characters to hit superhero comics in the last decade, so people were excited.

Ahmed was the first to tweet about it, with a suggestion for a killer writing team of himself, Mindy Kaling, and Kumail Nanjiani.
