The woman whose son recorded the video said that after they had killed the raccoons the students killed an opossum "just for sport".

In the clip, students can be seen standing around a black trashcan filled with water.

The teacher of the agriculture class was placed on paid leave Tuesday.

"We received statements that the teacher drowned multiple animals in front of students, and with student participation, because the animals were nuisance animals to the AG program at the school", he added, reported Ocala.

But the mother of the student who filmed the incident remains unconvinced that the raccoons were handled in the appropriate manner. "It's disgusting, and I can't believe it happened at school", she told Fox 35. The students gathered around the bin to watch, and assist, as the penned animals drowned.
