Nigeria remains 47th in latest Federation Internationale de Football Association ranking

South Africa remain unchanged at number 72 in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday‚ but will have the opportunity in the coming weeks to climb the table.

According to the rankings on the website, seven global "A" matches, all friendlies, took place in the month and as a result there are few movers in the latest ranking.

Stuart Baxter's Bafana side recently beat hosts Zambia to win the Four-Nations tournament in March.

The Super Eagles alongside their Group D opponents in the World Cup are unmoved from their previous ranking.

Kenya had dropped three places in the April ranking following poor performances against lowly ranked Comoros and the Central African Republic.

Germany maintain the top position on the latest released ranking and they were followed closely by Brazil, Belgium, Portugal, Argentina and Switzerland respectively.

Russia, which will be hosting the FIFA World Cup this year, did not play friendly matches either in April or in May and remained its last month's 66th place packing 493 points.

The Squirrels move up six spots to 84th overall, and will have their sights on matching their highest ever Federation Internationale de Football Association ranking - the 71st place they achieved in 2010.

The next ranking on June 7, 2018 - seven day to the commencement of the 2018 Fifa World Cup at the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow.
