BJP should contest with ballot papers: Thackeray

On the backdrop of Karnataka elections, where a tug-of-war can be seen between Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena said chief Raj Thackeray tweeted that this is a victory for the electronic voting machine. He said election commission has to look into the matter and replace EVMs with paper ballot.

Airing a similar view, Maharashtra NCP president Jayant Patil said the Congress was well positioned in Karnataka and there was no anti-incumbency against the Siddaramaiah government. But I wonder to see the BJP's performance in that state. The Karnataka election results 2018 are significant for the ruling Congress as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is hoping to make a comeback in this southern state. "BJP getting so many seats is something illogical", said Mr Patil.

"The Election Commission should conduct elections through ballot papers to remove doubts". He also said, "The doubts about EVM are serious". Party's national spokesperson D.P. Tripathi had declared the support to grand old party. His switching over party would help the BJP in spreading its social base, senior BJP leaders have said.

While the BJP has poached Congress leader Rajendra Gavit and fielded him as its candidate in Palghar, the Shiv Sena has inducted Srinivas Wanga, Chintaman Wanga's son, into the party and fielded him as its nominee.

Opposition parties may stall Parliament if the Congress and the JD (S) are not given a chance to form government in Karnataka, though morally the BJP must get the first opportunity, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said today. He expressed his reaction just after the BJP passed the half way mark of numbers on trends.
