LeBron James Held To One Of His Worst Playoff Games Ever

LeBron James Held To One Of His Worst Playoff Games Ever

Whether it was giving up favorable switches to the offense too quickly or sometimes completely unforced or simply losing track of a player for long enough for the shot to get off, these things were happening frequently enough that the Raptors defense was often scrambling to find a new adjustment to take away whichever player was hot in that game. James had to revert on jump shots for much of the game, barring a couple of layups he completed primarily via cuts to the basket. I'm just as confident going into a series whether it's a 0-0 series or I'm down 0-1.

So if that doesn't highlight just how pivotal Game 2 is for James and the Cavs on Tuesday night, I don't know what else will.

Part of this was due to the Boston Celtics' myriad of stout, yet athletic defenders. However, the other issue was that the Cavaliers just didn't adjust to the Celtics' athleticism or exploit the Celtics defense in the way that they should.

In the 2015 second round, the Cavs lost Game 1 to the Bulls, 99-92 at home, with James putting up 19 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists on 9-of-22 shooting.

"Game 1 has always been a feel-out game for me, if you've ever followed my history", he said after the Cavaliers fell 108-83 Sunday night.

Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James (23) goes up for a shot in the lane while Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris defends during the first half of Game 1 in the 2018 NBA Eastern Conference Finals at TD Garden in Boston.

Many thought Boston wouldn't make it this far in the playoffs since two of their best players - Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward - are watching these playoffs in street clothes. "It's what makes us the best team that we can be".

"I think they had a great game plan in Game 1, and he was the start of it", James said.

Well, in case you were wondering exactly what the cursive letters near the Celtics' sideline is, we'll remind you before Game 2 of the series tips off tonight. Let's see is James and the Cavs can get back on track. It was just one game.

Al Horford had 20 points for the Celtics and met little resistance from Kevin Love, who has been starting at center for Cleveland.

Tyronn Lue told the Cleveland Cavaliers to put Game 1 behind them, chalk it up to a bad game in the opener of the Eastern Conference finals, and get ready for Game 2 of the best-of-seven series on Tuesday.

His lack of attempts around the rim is also evident in his free-throw attempt total from Game 1 (6). "And we're going to take those same looks going into Game 2 if the opportunity presents itself".

Earlier on Monday, Draymond Green said James deserved a "standing ovation" for his ability to recite exactly what happened in the fourth quarter of the Cavaliers' loss to the Celtics.
