Egypt and Nigeria, two of Africa's World Cup-bound teams have named provisional squads with a little over a month to the global football showpiece.

El Hadary is expected to eclipse the record set by Colombia goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon, who was 43 when he played at the last World Cup in Brazil.

They will kick off their World Cup campaign against Uruguay in Ekaterinburg on 15 June.

The competition will be "tough", he said of Egypt's Group A rivals Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.

Mohamed Salah has proven himself to be a skilled finisher and major threat in the attacking end for Liverpool.

"We hope that he will exploit the progress he's made as a striker at Liverpool", said Cuper on Monday. "But who dares take away our ambition?" Hossam Ashour, Moamen Zakaria, Mohammed Magdy and Hussein el-Shahat were all left out.

Egypt will start their preparations in Cairo on 23 May 2018, before departing for Kuwait where they will face the home side two days later.
