Barletta wins Republican nomination for US Senate

Two giants of Northeastern Pennsylvania politics will be vying for one of the state's U.S. Senate seats this fall in one of the nation's most closely-watched races.

Christiana is running against Barletta and current U.S. Senate for Pennsylvania, Bob Casey the primary election. The incumbent- Sen. Bob Casey- is unopposed in the democratic race.

Mr. Barletta, a four-term lawmaker and supporter of President Trump's tough immigration policies, easily defeated state Rep. Jim Christiana of Beaver County by a margin of 61 percent to 39 percent, with almost three-fourths of the votes counted.

Casey is among 10 Democratic senators seeking re-election this year in states won by Trump, making Casey a target for Republicans.
