WhatsApp Groups Improved With New Features

WhatsApp suggests groups use the description space to clarify the objective, guidelines, or topics for that particular group. All of these features are now live for WhatsApp users on Android and iOS today. It will be interesting to see how this new change affects the flow of discussion in larger groups. The group description will appear on top of the chat sitting just below the group name.

WhatsApp users can now also use the new mentions feature in groups.

Six new features have been added to WhatsApp Group.

The first change gives groups a brief description to help clarify the goal and guidelines for the group chat.

Announcing the new features in an emailed statement, WhatsApp said, "Groups have been an important part of the WhatsApp experience, whether it's family members connecting across the globe or childhood friends staying in touch over the years".

WhatsApp gave examples of how come together in groups on WhatsApp like new parents looking for support, students organising study sessions, and city leaders coordinating relief efforts after natural disasters.

There are also new admin controls that restrict who can change items like the subject, icon and the description. To check new features, however, you have to make sure that running the latest updated app.

WhatsApp already has some nifty features which lets you remain in a group but at the same time avoid all the commotion it can become. Tapping on the symbol will allow members to see all messages that mention them since their last visit to the group, or reply to a previous message that they sent.

In addition to these features, admins now also have the option to remove admin permissions of other group participants, whereas group creators can no longer be removed from the group they started. "We've also introduced protection so users can't be repeatedly added to groups they've left", the company explained. WhatsApp Groups can have as many as 256 people and this will make this easy to do. You can simply search for any participant by going to the "Group Info" page.
