PSG defender Dani Alves has opened up on his World Cup-ending injury but insists he does not want sympathy as "he is still one happy mother*****r".

Alves, 35, tore his ACL on Tuesday during Paris Saint-Germain's French Cup final victory against Les Herbiers.

Shakhtar Donetsk forward Taison has been named alongside the likes of Neymar in Brazil's final 23-man squad for the World Cup.

Despite PSG's initial claim that Alves might only miss three weeks, the former Sevilla, Barcelona and Juventus star said he immediately knew the injury was more serious.

The Brazilian confederation said in a statement on Sunday that their doctor Rodrigo Lasmar believes Fagner will be fit for the tournament that kicks off on June 14.

The Brazilian national team have been hit with news that one of their star men will not be travelling to Russian Federation for the World Cup as injury has brought an end to his season. I knew from the moment that I hit the ground that I was not going to be on the plane to Russian Federation for the World Cup.

Danilo and Taison have joined Neymar in Brazil's squad for World Cup 2018. "I don't consider myself a veteran".

"In the changing room, the PSG doctors told me that we would have to wait until the next day to get the results of some tests, but I knew in my heart that it was over. I am really sorry for him", said Emery.

Brazil face an opening game against Switzerland and will have to fill the void left by the defender who has amassed 107 worldwide caps.

They are in a group with Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia.
