Retro Studios Developing Star Fox Racing Game for Switch - Rumor

Retro Studios Developing Star Fox Racing Game for Switch - Rumor

For the individuals who remember Star Fox Zero, the news of a possible leak of a new Star Fox game, especially one called Star Fox Grand Prix, may lead to a particular kind of anxiety out of fear of disappointment.

When Metroid Prime 4 was announced previous year at E3, the conclusion most came to was that Retro Studios was working on it. That's right, a racing title, apparently a mix of Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 and F-Zero. However, the gameplay is closer to F-Zero.

Is the Star Fox crew getting yet another chance at a comeback?

Several big publications Game Informer and Kotaku have also chimed in and said that they have heard that Retro Studios was working on another project.

The other is that Retro Studios hasn't released a new game since 2014's Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and since the recent Switch port wouldn't have taken them long that means they've had over four years now to cook up a new game.

The gist of the story is that Retro is designing Star Fox Grand Prix as a racing title, as the name suggests. In that it will feature a hub world, adventure-style races, and boss fights.

Information from Eurogamer's sources has lined up with what was posted online, but the outlet did not confirm Star Fox Grand Prix as an official title.

Diddy Kong Racing, developed by Rare and released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, was a fantastic title that is often glossed over in Nintendo history. However that project has most likely been canned due to development difficulties. An F-Zero game from Retro is something I can get behind. However, it's useful to note that Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was widely chastised when it leaked prior to its proper E3 unveiling.
