Amazon Go Expands to Chicago and San Francisco

The cashierless Amazon Go store in Seattle will no longer be the only location. But now, reports Recode, Amazon is getting set to launch its Go stores in Chicago and San Francisco.

Amazon says it will bring a cashier-less store to IL.

On offer at the store are delicious ready-to-eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options made fresh every day by Amazon's on-site chefs and favorite local kitchens and bakeries.

A 625-square-foot location in Chicago's Loop district has been chosen.

Amazon Go is headed for Chicago and San Francisco. Up until now, the only Amazon Go store was in Seattle.

At the time only Seattle and Los Angeles were confirmed, but it looks like the expansion will stretch beyond those cities. Once inside the store, customers can grab what they need and just walk out. Technical limitations encountered during testing with employees show that it would be hard to implement the tracking system on a much larger scale, albeit not impossible over the long term. However, this issue has largely been eliminated just a few weeks after the grand opening of the original Amazon Go store.

Shoppers enter the stores by scanning a smartphone app.

Their account will be charged once they leave the store. Each store will also have staff members who will be there to make sure the shelves are restocked and assist new customers who are hesitant about how it all works.
