ABC Renews Marvel's Agents Of SHIELD For Season 6 With A Catch

ABC has given a Season 6 order to Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. There is a hitch, however, as TV Line reports that Season 6 will be shorter than previous seasons, consisting of just 13 episodes.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been on the bubble for months as one of ABC's lowest rated dramas now on air with the only two shows below it already being cancelled. The question on everyone's minds is whether or not the fallout of Avengers: Infinity War will be shown in the season finale. Executive producer Jeff Bell told EW that they thought this season would be it: "Right now, we're writing a series end because as far as we know, this could be it".

And as if that wasn't enough, below you'll see a brief video championing the network's decision to extend the show's life expectancy well into 2019.

ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey has revealed that the next season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. won't make its debut until Summer 2019.

He's by no means the only MCU character poised for a big return, mind you, given Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden's standalone movie also features Lee Pace (Ronan the Accuser) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) among its huge cast list.

The fifth season finale "The End" - an episode that wraps up the show's crossover with the "Avengers: Infinity War" film - airs May 18. The series is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

The series was officially picked up by ABC in May 2013, and also stars Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge, with Nick Blood, Adrianne Palicki, Henry Simmons, Luke Mitchell, John Hannah, and Natalia Cordova-Buckley joining in later seasons. So while the wait may be long, the future may also be bright for the Marvel series' small but active fanbase.
