2 surprises in Nigeria's provisional WCup squad

Former Africa Footballer of the Year Emmanuel Amuneke has said that the 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup picked by coach Gernot Rohr should be respected.

Otherwise, the bulk of the players on the squad announced by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have been involved in the qualifying tournament for Russia 2018.

Surprise invitee Lokosa now leads the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) goalscorers chat with 18 goals, recording his most recent goals in Kano Pillar's 3-1 victory over Kaduna United on Sunday.

Amuneke, who featured at the 1994 World Cup, further said the Eagles are capable of surpassing the Round 16 finish the country has achieved in 1994, 1998 and 2014.

And four Goalkeepers made the list: Francis Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi, Dele Ajiboye and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Also in the team are Leicester City's duo of Wilfried Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Ogenyi Onazi, Kenneth Omeruo, Ahmed Musa and China-based Odion Ighalo.
