Tom Brokaw Accused of Accused of Sexual Harassment

Brokaw, who has been with NBC since anchoring the Today show in 1976, is the latest journalist alleged of sexual harassment following Matt Lauer's shocking termination late a year ago. Vester disagreed and later met with another friend who corroborated in an interview that Vester was "rattled" by the episode and "disappointed" in what had happened given her respect for Brokaw. "The meetings were brief, cordial and appropriate, and despite Linda's allegations, I made no romantic overtures towards her, at that time or any other".

When she was working for CBS News, in Cairo, Egypt, she caught the attention of the NBC News team in 1989 and they wanted to groom her as a foreign correspondent and network talent, Mediaite reported. "Now let me show you how to give a real kiss", he said, in Vester's recollection, and jerked her head toward him.

Vester, who said that she was speaking out because NBC News had not hired an outside counsel to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct, alleged that once the then-married Brokaw invited himself over to her hotel and said he wanted to initiated an "affair of more than passing affection".

Brokaw denied Vester's allegations. She wrote, "I said 'Tom".

Vester says Brokaw - the lead anchor on NBC's nightly news program for more than two decades as well as a host on both "Today" and "Meet the Press" - harassed and groped her in the early-to-mid 1990s.

Both women say that Brokaw made unwanted advances and sexually harassed them on several occasions. The former reporter claims that in 1993, Brokaw grabbed her from behind and tickled her waist in front of her colleagues in Denver, Colorado. She did not go to his office and did not report the incident before leaving the network. "He grabbed me behind my neck and tried to force me to kiss him. I was shocked to feel the amount of force and his full strength on me", he said. He allegedly repeated similar advances the following year when he showed up at her apartment.

Another woman, who worked as a production assistant in the 1990s when she was 24, claims that Brokaw put her 'hands under his jacket and against his chest and pulled me in so close and asked me, "How is your job search going?"

Ann Curry, who worked for NBC News, says that she warned the network years ago that there were issues at NBC in terms of sexual harassment, principally with Matt Lauer.
